The way the betting is shaping we’re starting to think that Tiz The Law simply can’t lose the Belmont Stakes. We’ve seen plenty of odds-on shots beaten in the past, but we rarely see a horse around the 4/5 mark accounting for so much of the betting activity.

In the last seven days, Tiz The Law has claimed just over 78% of all bets on the market in the UK. To put that into perspective, Stradivarius is the same price to win the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot but has only accounted for 43% of bets in the market.

Tap It To Win, Dr Post and Sole Volante are currently battling it out for second-favoritism in the UK market. However, neither of them have accounted for over 10% of the bets in the market which just highlights Tiz The Law’s dominance.

One UK bookmaker was offering 5/1 on Tiz The Law to win the Belmont Stakes when the market opened in early May. However, the shape of the field has obviously changed considerably since then which has caused a rapid reduction in his odds. There are numerous lucky bettors sitting on large wagers on Tiz The Law winning at 3/1 which were placed near the end of May.

The Belmont Stakes’s favorite will break from the eighth post on Saturday in what will be the first-leg of the Triple Crown campaign. Tiz The Law is currently the 3/1 favourite for the Kentucky Derby, and has accounted for 41% of bets in the market for that race in the past week.
