Delaware Park Picks and Best Bets for Monday September 14

Delaware R1

Race one is as good a race as any to start with and HEATHER HILLS looks to have solid claims to land the opener. Campaigning in better races than this so far this season, Stacy Hendry’s inmate has been extremely consistent throughout and can get off the mark for the season running against weaker opposition.

Delaware R3

Likely favorite Tonka Flower will be tough to beat joining new connections, but it’s worth chancing CHESS MASTER to cause a minor upset here. The selection was extremely impressive last time out and he looks on a serious upward trend at the moment having won two of his last three. Further progress is not ruled out and he rates the bet.

Delaware R6

The key to COMMUNICATION FAIL’s chances today is clearly the drop in grade compared to his two previous starts and this half-brother to Cool Mo has a solid chance of shedding his maiden tag in race six at Delaware. Drawn in stall 2, Brian Pedroza should be able to dictate the pace here and burn off the others for speed. Plenty of his rivals have had plenty of chances to come out on top and Communication Fail can take advantage of the class drop here.

Delaware R8

The final race on the card is certainly not a classic, but we don’t need a classic to find a winner! PASSING LANE is hopefully that winner in the lucky last as I really like the unexposed angle in a weak race. Passing Lane made his debut at Gulfstream back in July and despite coming last, didn’t run without promise. It’s predicted that this drop in trip (as well as class) should suit and he can upset those with slightly better form figures.
