Saratoga Horse Racing Picks - Sunday September 6

Carl Nicholson previews the card at Saratoga on Sunday:

RACE OF THE DAY RACE 9

ESPLANANDE has won all three of her starts so far. She put in a good performance last time out and has to be respected in the big for a four timer. LADY LILLY battled things out to score on debut and looks likely to take another step forward. BEAUTIFUL MEMORIES gave a rather puzzling effort last time out. Her debut run had marked her out as one to follow, but that last effort leaves question marks. GUANA CAY has yet to win in two starts, but her master trainer of two year olds can work these types up to being spot for the day & with a leading jockey booked that could be the case.

GUANA CAY catches the eye a little in the quest to get off the mark in this Grade 1 and is my selection.

OTHER RACES

RACE 10

COME DANCING heads the market & it is easy to see why. He was behind SERENGETI EMPRESS who only just missed out yesterday at Churchill Downs and that sort of form looks good enough to go well. BLAMED showed some of her best form when 2nd last time out and from a leading barn has obvious chances. LADY'S ISLAND is a bit of a winning machine , this represents a step up; but given her tough attitude she is another player. PINK SANDS has been a bit disappointing the last twice, but those were is good races and she could bounce back.

COME DANCING has leading claims on form and is tough to look beyond.

RACE 11

GIDU looks an interesting runner for the top barn of Todd Pletcher, this well bred son of Frankel has been highly tried and this looks a very suitable race to get back in the winners enclosure.
