OddsChecker’s Tom Dodd joins us to preview the racing at Belmont Park on Thursday. He’s got four picks to tail on the meet.
Race 1 – Pick: GHOST GIANT
Dark Money will be popular with bettors in the opener on his first start for Linda Rice, but I prefer the chances of Ghost Giant who ran really well last time out when an unconsidered 15-1 chance over 6 furlongs here. He finished beaten just two and a half lengths in the end and considering that was over a trip short of his optimum suggests he could strike today back up to 1 mile.
Race 3 – Pick: VIP NATION
Vip Nation is also changing trip from his last run, but he’s dropping back to 7 furlongs and it should really suit this course-specialist in the third race. Drawn in gate 5, Kendrick Carmouche should get a nice toe into it here and can strike down the straight.

Race 5 – Pick: MARKET IMPACT
Jorge Abreu looks to hold the key to this race, with his barn accounting for the two morning line favorites, but the selection has to be Market Impact who can put a poor run behind him last time out. The mount of Jose Ortiz made a really promising racetrack debut as a two-year-old and if you can forgive the run last time out has to hold the advantage. Joint And Several will be popular but Market Impact can put his experience to use and bounce back to form today.
Race 9 – Pick: NOBLE MISCHIEF
The last race at Belmont is one of the most competitive, so it’s hard to be too confident, but there was a lot to like about the run of Noble Mischief last time and he could be missed in the betting. After a host of average efforts, Noble Mischief stepped up considerably here a couple of weeks ago and with similar conditions facing him today you can expect him to progress and improve again.
