Free Horse Racing Picks at Woodbine – Saturday September 19

Racing Handicapper Carl Nicholson breaks down his picks for Saturday at Woodbine.

RACE OF THE DAY: RACE 9

WAR OF THE WILL showed good fighting spirit to get the verdict in a tight finish here last time out. He probably looked to have more in hand than the margin of victory indicated and he should be a leading player. MARCH TO THE ARCH does seem to excel at this track and was a cosy winner here last time out. VALUE PROPOSITION is a bit short on experience, but is more than capable of stepping up to this grade judged on his performances the season & jockey booking looks a positive. SHIRL'S SPEIGHT is two for two so far, has to step up on the form of those two wins, but is unexposed and not one to discount at all. STARSHIP JUBILEE could only manage 4th in the Grade 1 Diana Stakes last time out, but that was a very strong looking race & this is weaker by a fair way. The mare was previously unbeaten in 4 runs previously and has a tremendous attitude and will to win.

A competitive race on paper with WAR OF THE WILL looking a strong favorite given how cosily he scored last time out. But he may have to give best to the very likeable STARSHIP JUBILEE who has been working very well and has some very solid form that should see her regain the winning habit.

OTHER RACES

RACE 3

AMSDEN looks a well above average type. This well bred and expensive son of American Pharoah ran right away from his opposition on debut and should take plenty of beating on this step up in grade.

RACE 7

SKYWIRE looks the type that could have more to offer over middle distances and this good looking son of Afleet Alex has an appealing look to him in this race.

RACE 10

ILLEGAL SMILE looks a very strong favorite for this & it will be a surprise if she does not convert given her form compared to the other runners.
